These instructions are provided for the benefit of anyone who wishes to create a bootable floppy disk containing a one-time password file that is usable with the optional HyperTerminal utility included with the program. The NT/2K/XP operating systems installed on a PC can either install the authentication and encryption program or read the one-time passwords from the boot CD without any installation. Here's how:
1) Powerup a computer and remove the floppy diskette used to load the CD. You will load the CD by inserting it into a CD-ROM drive. If a floppy is used instead, the CD-ROM is most likely to take up the only slot available. The installation walkthrough is presented in this guide must first be initiated by loading a bootable floppy disk. 2) Under Start/All Programs/Accessories, select "My Computer." This will open the Computer window. 3) Right-click on the first floppy disk. This will allow you to launch the Microsoft Disk Management utility. 4) From the Windows Disk Management utility, you can see the information on all of your floppy disks. Notice the location of the floppy disk that you used to load the CD. Choose that disk, and then click "Show All Devices." 5) Click on the floppy disk and choose the second floppy disk. 6) Click the folders tab and notice the location of the floppy disk used to load the CD for that system. 7) Choose that disk and click "Show All Devices." At the bottom of the window, you can see the options to load the floppy disk. Choose that option, and then click "Start." 8) Once the floppy disk has been loaded, the operating system will then load its process. Doing this will make some system requirements available (recommended disk space, etc.) and will also make the CD-bootable. This is why the floppy disk is needed. See the following graphic for a more active list: 9) A reboot is performed to give the new process time to load. 10) After the system has rebooted, the boot process will start. Upon successful boot, the authentication and encryption process will begin. Once it has loaded, the authentication and encryption process will have successfully booted! d2c66b5586
